Plaza Las Aulas
Hi - I think I've written a few posts on here already, so I figured I might as well give in and become an actual contributer!
So, I love where I live. I'm slowly adjusting to "small town life" again and confess some homesickness for the city-life in Madrid, but I really love where we've been put down. Ok - the beach helps :) But more than that, we live on this really classic Spanish plaza. There are a few cafés. People meet-up to go out, or take their dogs out. Evidently the grand fiestas take place here in the early spring -- which might mean a week of no sleep, judging by the average Spaniard's celebrating habits. And for the last three days, we have been privileged to view afternoon puppet shows for the local children. To me, there is nothing like the vibrancy of life that occurs in a Spanish plaza around 7 pm. And there is also nothing like hearing, seven storeys below, over 100 children simultaneously shrieking with laughter, howling in fear, and screaming "HOLA!!" to a visiting puppet.
I love where I live and I'd love to hear what ya'll love about where you live.

As long as you don't make me go out on the balcony :)
Could go for some coffee in your kitchen though.
Hugs,

I hear you about missing Madrid, although I get to go back, hopefully sooner rather than later. Here are some things I love about Madrid:
I love sitting at the fountain in the sun on a warm day at Templo de Debod, and how if you're there in the afternoon you get to watch about 50 3-5 year olds in little plaid uniforms make their way to the playgrounds after school. I love the long summer nights with whole families on terraces at 2 am to enjoy a bit of cool (less hot) air. I love napolitanas de chocolate, and that the old lady that works at my bread place calls me "child."
I love watching people move their hands while they talk. I love seeking out little hole-in-the wall tapas places for cheap drinks and free food, and finally feeling comfortable and safe standing shoulder to shoulder with people I've never met. I love the fact that we can go out and make or change our plan as we go. I the smell of roasting chestnuts from street vendors in the winter. I love that 2 amazing art museums are free on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
ok, I'm going to stop because I tend to get carried away. I love Madrid, and can't wait to get back. I miss you being there.
beautiful kelly. you are making me miss madrid lots too! hopefully we'll be there together some day soon :)
